  • What is Linear Performance Warranty in Solar Panels [Explained]

Finally you got your solar panels installed and you were checking documentation of system and you get warranty certificate of panels which says Linear Performance Warranty 25 years. Now you are probably wondering what does that means right?

From Data Sheet of Jinko Solar

As it name suggest Linear Output Warranty is a Warranty on Performance for next 25 Years of solar powerplant installation. Now you must be thinking what is definition of Performance and what are terms for this warranty? Well for different companies terms and condition will be different. Now what is Performance well when we install Solar panels from day 1 it will start generating power and its efficiency will be 100% on Day 1 However since it is brought from factory environment to real life environment it’s efficiency will drop from 1.5 % to 2 % at end of 1 rst Year. Why does that happen? It happens because of daily exposure to Higher and Lower Temperature and Humid, Dry and Dusty Atmosphere everyday. First year is a settlement period for Solar panels.

Now from second year onwards Solar Panels efficiency will drop 0.55% every year and this percentage is under warranty by respective OEMs for up to 25 Years. You may monitor output of Solar system with help of Remote Monitoring Unit provided by your installer to know when you want to claim warranty.

  • Economics of solar energy

This is Twenty First Century in this fast changing and rapidly moving world cost of any technology is crucial factor to decide whether investment being made on technology will give solution to our problem in most reliable and efficient manner.

I am Keyur Oza and I am Solar consultant catering more than 10 Cities with their Solar needs hence I find myself qualified to answer to one of the hottest question of many how much it really cost to install Solar Rooftop Plant for your Residential building so without a further do let’s start.

As we know pricing of Steel, Aluminium Silicone wafers are constantly changing hence we will talk about recent scenario for pricing. Talking about free Market price for installing Solar roof top system for your House can vary between 72,000 INR to 59,000 INR per kW for Mono Crystline Solar panel with Halfcut and Perc Technology. Prices depend upon No. Panels possible to install on your roof hence you can install between 2 kW to 20 kW Solar Rooftop System depending upon Site.

Now you know the price you must be thinking well how price justify my return on investment? Fair question I will explain you with once scenario for this question.

Let’s say you are going with 10 kW System and it cost you 5,90,000/- and you have saved 1200 Units every month with help of Solar. If your tariff is 8 Rs then you will save 1,15,000/- per year Which means within 5 Years you will get your investment back.

Now let’s compare your investment with Fix Deposit

Investment of 5,90,000/- will give return of 1,68,150/- Return at end of 5 Year (Considering 5.70 ROI)

Hence proved that Investing in Solar is much better than investing in FD in your bank and it can diverse your portfolio as you can use Solar power plant to generate electricity more than 25 Years. Solar is also becoming status symbols among Upper middle class and wealthy people worldwide.

    • Environmental Impact
Usig Solar Energy reduce coal/gas based fuel burning hence less carbon footprint for energy which means cleaner and safer environment.
    • Because we do not have to transfer Electricity from powerplant to house we save transmission losses which means further saving on electricty bills and greener environment.
    • Solar System is decentralized and sustainable because it’s life is more than 25 years hence it also impact financially positively and envirnment too.

  • Poly Crystalline vs mono Crystalline Solar Panels

Learning technical terms is not easy but it surely gives you lot of confidence and knowledge so you can make informed decision. I am Keyur Oza Solar Consultant in India and Proud owner of this website. I will guide you through 2 Major type of Solar Panels and will also explain Fundamental terms like Efficiency of Solar Panel.

    1. Poly Crystalline PV Panel:

    Poly Crystalline PV Panel

The Poly Crystalline Panel Technology is Four decades old Technology and it is Blue Tinted Panel with Multiple Silicon cells integrated in one Panel. We can see lines and multiple cells in this type of cells because it is made up of multiple cells and it cost less to manufacture Polycrystalline Cells because of it’s unique manufacturing technique.

Generally Poly Crystalline Solar Panels are 15 % Efficient Which means they can convert 15 % of Radiation falling from Sun to Usable Energy. Radiation falling from Sun on Solar Panel is measured in w/m^2 Unit.

Poly Crystalline Solar Panels are less efficient compare to Second type of Solar Panel which is Mono Crystalline Solar Panel. The reason behind it is that Poly Crystalline Panels are made up of Multiple cells hence it looses energy in transferring Energy from one cell to another cell and also it require more space of your Roof compare to Mono Crystalline Solar panel for same Capacity.

    2. Mono Crystalline PV Panel :

    Mono Crystalline PV Panel

The Mono Crystalline panel is highly efficient Packed with Single Cells Technology which is almost 7 Decades old. It have Black hue and looks stunningly Extraordinary and Premium compare to Poly Crystalline Panels.

Mono Crystalline panel is more efficient compare to Poly Crystalline with whopping efficiency of 23 % in some case. Mono Crystalline panels also gives freedom of Space Saving or Placing maximum Capacity of Solar Power Plant on your Roof/Ground.

The Mono Crystalline panels is manufactured with a Unique technique so single block of Silicon cells are produced which is expensive compare to Poly Crystalline Solar panel.

Installing a Solar Power Plant is a Status symbol in today’s world so Mono Crystalline is Hot Choice for many Home owners in India.

Conclusion: We loves to save money so why not on Solar panel too we could do same. If your investment budget for Solar Rooftop System is less than you can go with Poly Crystalline Panels that will give Fruitful return. However if you want bang for your buck and install maximum capacity for your Home so you can enjoy Pool of Solar Energy for you Appliances then you can probably get more Capacity of Mono Crystalline Solar panels as it is more efficient and required less space.

  • How to Calculate area needed to Install Solar on my Roof (DIY)

It is 2022 and everyone is talking about going Solar and switching to SciFi Autonomous Electric Vehicles. However, when it comes to installing a Solar you have to make sure a few checklists are true to get maximum output of your Solar Panel. Understand the area required to Go Solar for your home here.

    1. Always check obstacles like tall towers, buildings and trees around the house Specially in East South and West if you are in Northen Hemisphere. Solar works on Sun Light you want to make sure there is no shadow falling on your roof throughout the year (Each day Sun’s Trajectory is different) if you still have doubt you can take help of Solar Design Engineer who will make shadow analysis of 365 days and give a design report.
    2. A general rule of thumb is for 1 kWp Capacity of Solar Panel required approx 100 Square Feet / 10 Square Meter Shadow Free Space up on your roof. If you have 500 Sq Ft Roof than you are probably good to go with 5 kWp System if roof is Shadow free.
    3. Make sure that roof has a strong base which can carry the weight and load of solar panels. For example, Jinko 540 Wp Panel have approx 27 kg / 60 lb weight so if you are installing 10 Panels make sure your roof can withstand 270 kg / 600 lb weight of panels and other loads.
    4. When needed you may also need to add Module mounting structure and increase structure height so obstacles can be avoided and space under Solar panels can be used.

It is exciting to Go Solar! But make this journey safe and beneficial for you and your neighbours. Always follow local safety laws while installing Solar Panels. Post your thoughts below and bookmark this website to get amazing content like this.  (Article written in 2022)

  • How Renewable Energy Helps Economy

Going Renewable is a talk of a every societies in town. However it is very important to understand Economic impact of going with Renewable energy. In this post we will discuss challenges with switching to Renewable energy and How Renewable Energy Helps our Economy.

Challages for Swiching to Renewable Energy

    • Higher Upfront Capital cost, Because technology of Renewable Energy is Quite new early adopter might need to pay cost for technology and manufacturing plant setup cost as a premium therefore prices of new and refined renewable technologies have higher effeciency but it might not be easy on pocket for many people and Societies.
    • Our Infrastructure was not made in such a way so that Solar Plants can be installed on Houses and Societies with Ease. This challanges again solved using Engineering Solutions which again increase upfront cost of Project.
    • Whole purpose of Renewable energy is clean affordable and Efficient energy consumption and Distribution. However in many cases because of lack of proper knowledge and going Renewable just for sake of Saving money on conventional Energy Price volatality. People often use cheap quality material and Maintanance which results more loss than money gained by using cheap materials and improper care of maintanance.

Indian government and various developed nations are working towards switching to Renewable Energy goal however trend for finance flow from Developed nations to Developing Nations is going downwards.

    How Renewable Energy Helps Economy

    • Renewable Energy specially Solar Rooftop will help reducing transmission losses which means more electricity will be used and less will be wasted. And less financial will be wasted on loss making Powerplants operated by Governments.
    • Property with a Renewable Energy will be great value addition to the Property and will definitely increase its Price and demand.
    • With abundance cheap Energy available from Renewable Energy businesses will move towards Renewable and Oil dependency will reduce significantly which ultimately stabilises prices of Energy and basic requirement goods.
    • Renewable Energy will also create indirect work opportunity for many sectors due to stabilised prices of Energy and reliable supply.

Many states in USA and many Developed and Developing countries like China, Germany, UK and India are scaling their pace to for Renewable Sector switching however it required support of each and every person to achieve this goal before it is too late.
